Coloring is an inviting and effective tool for exercising our imaginations. It is a tool for revving your creative engines, as well as giving your mind an oil change and filling it up with premium gasoline.
Beyond the fun automotive connection, this analogy provides a way to remember WHY it is so important to take time for cultivating the muscle of imagination. For we all have imagination. We all can improve our imagination. And we all can benefit from giving our imagination some daily TLC.
For me, this isn’t just a hypothetical, I’ve experienced the truly life-transforming benefits of putting Mindful Coloring into practice.
To expand on my 30 Reasons Why I Love to Color, I’ve compiled 25 Reasons I love to use the ZieBee Coloring Collection.
- The Coloring Postcards are the perfect paper type.
- I can take the postcards anywhere with me, and they fit perfectly in my book or journal.
- I love being able to send the postcards to friends, it mixes my self-care with tending my relationships.
- It’s really unobtrusive to pull out some postcards, even at a dining table, which is incredibly helpful for any-where-I-need-to-be to reduce my anxiety.
- When I’m at home, I love to use the postcards like a Tarot deck too, spreading them out and picking one I’m drawn to (without looking) then gaining inspiration from the subject by creating my own message it could be giving.
- The Coloring Journal is a fantastic way of mixing my daily journaling with coloring, it is great to be able to only have one ‘tool.’
- I love to color as a rest in my writing to allow new words to come to me, and the Coloring Journal is perfect for this activity.
- It’s great to use the Coloring Journal as my planner, it has seven lined pages between each image, so I can color the design throughout the week and write a daily reflection on each of the seven days.
- The Coloring Journal is a perfect size for traveling and going with me in my yoga bag, it means I can keep my bag light.
- I love testing out the color schemes in my Coloring Journal, and then starting in on the same design in the accompanying Coloring Postcard – it acts like a warm-up, to get to know the design and test colors and ideas.
- The Coloring Book is the perfect adult-appropriate replica of my favorite childhood coloring books, it has wide open white spaces for plenty of free form coloring.
- I love the single-sided pages in the book, and how there are plenty of blank pages at the end to test colors and make color swatches.
- It’s great to have the Guide to Technique included in the Coloring Book, it provides inspiration each time I open the book, and is helpful to have the Color Wheel reminder.
- I really enjoy the variety of coloring experiences the Coloring Book provides, I can always find one I’m in the mood for – whether finer details and realistic imagery or free-flowing patterns that I can feel comfortable coloring any hue.
- The Coloring Book includes enough pages to keep me occupied for 50+ hours, and yet is also something that feels completable.
- The Coloring Posters are simply fantastic for launching an immersive art making experience.
- I love using the posters to experiment with new methods and mediums, as they give me a framework so I can focus on the tools instead of coming up with a composition or illustration.
- It’s great how the posters’ paper works really well with all my favorite coloring mediums, from marker to oil pastels, crayons and pencils, – even paint! – it is incredibly versatile.
- The Coloring Posters provide a creative challenge, they have a lot of white space that’s intentionally been left free for personal interpretation and this is a great workout for my imagination.
- I thoroughly enjoy using the posters as a form of creative play, as they’re easy to dive into and I can get right into art making, even if I only have a little bit of time.
- The Journey of Colors Kit provides an wide range of coloring experiences, and I love how I can use each product for a different time in my life.
- The style of the artwork is inviting and engaging, I appreciate how the lines provide insights into shadows and highlights, implying texture and form, yet leaving room for me to explore.
- Being able to select “Small, Medium, or Large” has really enabled me to use coloring in new ways, which in turn has greatly helped me with continuous relief from anxiety.
- Getting to color each design in it’s various sizes has helped me improve my technique through repetition, as well as challenging my imagination by seeing the same design in new ways (i.e. coloring the Lion with blues and greens).
- Using the Journey of Colors Kit has helped me increase the amount of time I spend making art, as well as decreasing the time spent looking at screens, it’s done this by making it easy and inviting for me to make art, and in turn it has helped me truly be happy.
